Hello 2022! A reflection time again

It is that time of the year when we start a new chapter of a new book which has about 365 or 366 pages in it.  Our task is to write each page of it based on factors within or beyond our control. Well, if experiences of the last 2 years is anything to go by; the chapters of this year books can go either way – you can’t exactly predict the full outcome. But all the same, we have to be happy, optimistic and grateful at the start of this new year – 2022.

Like many people, I spend a significant proportion of time at the beginning of the year reflecting and mapping out what I wish to see or achieve. I have not always been like that, had to embrace the reflection culture a little over 3 years ago and has not regrets so far. I will refer to it as a timeseries investment on oneself. Looking back at last 2021 for example, it was tough – at least for me. But it was also an incredibly rewarding season in a number of ways. My scorecard doesn’t look too good, but I am happy with it quite frankly, because it is real and there is no going back in time to change any piece of it. I couldn’t ask for more – did what I could.

The beauty of taking time to map out your achievements – small and big, or the hurdles you had to endure to get you there – is that you are amazed by what you have done. As they say, ‘Count your blessings!’ If you read most of my blogs all through 2021, you understand what I am talking about. Coming from a person who loathes repetition, I would hate to bore you by doing it all over again. So long story short, opportunities and challenges was re-invigorated! I haven’t lived up to the new energy yet, it is one step and a time.

So, what’s in the pipeline for the new year? Hard to tell but can promise to get better at what I do. That includes consistency in my blogs which means finding more inspiration and putting myself out there to face the challenges and spot the opportunities in store for me (or you). So, before things get messy and we find ourselves in February then March and before we know it, Easter period and boom, last half of the year – another reflection time. Allow me to take this moment to wish you dear reader, a prosperous new year ahead. But first, take a moment to look back and what you did or achieved in 2021 – be grateful and see what you improve on to yield a better version of yourself or the things you terribly hit a rock bottom at. And more importantly, don’t beat yourself too hard – what is bound to happen will happen!

My piece of advice is to give 2022 your best shot then sit back, relax and reap off what you sow.

Let’s seize opportunities and face the challenges as they come one page at a time. Good news is that the first 2 pages are down, 363 more to go! So grab a pencil and get to work! Happy new year to you!
