This September we take a look down memory lane, to reflect on what a journey it has been. I have said this before and will say it again – when you take time to count your blessings, you will be surprised how full your cup is. The song written hundreds of years back on the same is true to the latter.
Below and next series of posts will provide a summary of lessons learnt through an entire gratitude season. I have probably already mentioned some of them in the past – sorry for the repetition! Hope this long list can be a source of inspiration to anyone reading it!
Season 1
1: Born for a reason
That you were born for such a time like this is a blessing. Be grateful for it! Don’t yonder in the why, how, to whom…all that is in the past. Live in the today and face tomorrow one step at a time when it comes.
2: Be ready for the inevitable
We do not know the hour or time, learn to be ready for anything anytime. And be grateful no matter what.
3: Past memories count
You might not always remember what it was like growing up because you were too young then. That doesn’t mean the moments were not as important. Everything was crafted to fit perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle. Be grateful!
4: Childhood adventures are priceless
As a parent or guardian, don’t take that away from children the opportunity to experience adventures. It might not matter now; it certainly will in future. Create time and be grateful for such experiences!

5: There is always a first time for everything
Nobody is born knowing it all. There will always be many first occasions throughout our lifetime. Some are scary or not – regardless, face each first as it comes full of confidence. And be grateful if it goes well or not, you are learning!
6: Cheating for small wins can happen
But it should not define the rest of your steps. Be a person of integrity and strong character. It helps to keep you grounded in doing the right thing. Be grateful for your principles and self-discipline and how they have shaped who you are today.
7: Some years will certainly feel empty
You may not recall some details for certain years, don’t beat yourself too hard that you don’t. It’s normal that some pages at the start of a book are intentionally left blank. So don’t strain trying to fill missing storylines. But be grateful for what you remember!
Until the next post, happy reflection on some of your key learning points over the years.
